British Gas Duel in the Pool

Although the result ended up being a bit one sided, the whole experience of the British Gas Duel in the Pool was awesome. The atmosphere at the event itself was out of this world – the crowd were so loud and really up for it. They definitely got my blood going! I was wearing a different Speedo suit than normal as well, which definitely felt a bit weird, but it was the leg length more than the textile aspect that was odd. It was still a great suit though – as you’d expect from Speedo. I’m just pleased the issue has been sorted and we can get on with the swimming.

It was a real shame that a few of the big European names weren’t there to compete with the US stars as I think that would have made the whole meet much more competitive – the E-Stars just lacked a bit of depth, something the Americans don’t need to worry about.

All the swimmers got on really well though and it was great to meet some of the USA swimmers properly – Aaron Peirsol’s Christmas jumper was a particular highlight!

A big thank you to the organisers and to the sponsors who made the event something I’d love to do again.
