Rebecca Sets Fastest Time of the Year in Barcelona

Rebecca Adlington has set the fastest 800m freestyle time of the year so far at the Mare Nostrum series in Barcelona. She clocked a time of 8.21.25 minutes, and in the process lowered the mark she set at the British Gas Championships in March. She also shaved over three seconds off fellow Briton Jo Jackson's meet record set last year.

Rebecca, the current world record holder, commented; "I'm so pleased to have won here in Barcelona and the time makes me even happier. The recent British Swimming camp in Mallorca was one of the best I've been to and that has clearly made a difference. Obviously this year is all about performing at the European Championships and then the Commonwealth Games - so I'm delighted with the progress I'm making so far this year."
