Dreaming in Delhi!
8 October, 2010
What a brilliant day and the perfect way
to finish my first Commonwealth Games!
I was really pleased with my Gold in the
800m yesterday, I led the race from the beginning and managed to
keep out at the front, although I did ease back to make sure I had
enough left in the tank for today's 400m race. After my seventh
place in the European Championships this year, I'm over the moon to
be taking home the gold.
Then in today's race I just gave my all
and really went for it. I wasn't really focussed on swimming a
quick time, it was all about that gold medal - so to get the medal
and to set a new Commonwealth Games record for the 400m was a real
bonus and a great confidence boost.
It's been a long season and to finish on
a high like this is simply brilliant, a tough but very rewarding
week - it will really set me up for next year. All that training,
the long hours and early mornings are all worthwhile to be the
double Commonwealth Games champion.
Aside from my own performances, Team
England is doing incredibly well in the pool - there are too many
medal performances to mention - and I'm loving the winning
atmosphere! I'll be cheering my teammates on from the stands
tomorrow too.
Finally, I'd just like to thank those
who sent me good luck messages and gave me their support. I'm
gutted that I can't reply to you all individually, but I do read
every message I get sent and, believe me, I really do appreciate
them all!
