ASA Free Swim
21 June, 2010
I'm obviously a bit disappointed to hear that the ASA Free Swim
initiative has been scrapped by the government - as a huge swimming
supporter, I would like to see as many families and young kids
enjoying the healthy benefits of swimming as possible. But I do
understand that given the current financial climate, cut backs have
to be made to get us back on track.
Hopefully when things are looking a bit better, then something
similar to the Free Swim initiative might be brought back.
There are still ways of getting in the pool for free though . One
of my sponsors, British Gas, through their own Free Family Swim
initiative this year have given over 300,000 people the chance to
enjoy a swim in their local pool. They also have over 20,000 people
enrolled in the Great Swim Series which starts this weekend.
British Gas have been fantastic partners of swimming here in
Britain, right from grass roots up to supporting us as elite
athletes. Check out
